Common questions
Where is my data?
On your device only. Lifeline has no accounts and no cloud storage. Deleting the app deletes your data, so export anything you want to keep first.
How do bank connections work?
Quick connect links up to 2 institutions through Plaid with no setup — your bank login happens inside Plaid's secure interface and is never visible to Lifeline. Want more institutions, or full control? Settings → Connectors → Advanced walks you through using your own free Plaid keys; everything then goes directly from your device to Plaid.
A bank connection stopped updating.
Banks occasionally require re-authentication. Open Settings → Connectors and follow the reconnect prompt for that institution. If it persists, unlink and relink the institution — your transaction history stays.
How do I manage or cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are handled by Apple: iOS Settings → your Apple ID → Subscriptions. Lifeline shows your current status under Settings → General. "Restore Purchases" recovers an existing subscription on a new device.
Statement import vs. bank connection?
Both work. Import a CSV or PDF statement in Budgeting and Lifeline parses it on-device; if a bank is also connected, a scoreboard shows how the two line up.
Why does the app ask before "learning" anything?
Lifeline notices repeated corrections (like always renaming a merchant) and asks once — at most one question a day — before turning any of them into a standing rule. Review or undo every rule in Settings → Learning.
Privacy
The full policy is at lifeline privacy policy. Summary: your data stays on your device; nothing is collected.
